Srinagar encounter- Three unidentified militants killed: Police

Three militants have been killed in an encounter that raged between government forces and militants in the Pantha chowk area of Srinagar district late on Thursday.

A Police official said that three militants have been killed who are yet to be identified, while the search operation is on in the area.

Earlier, an official confirming the exchange of gunfire to The Kashmiriyat said that reinforcements from 28BN, 115BN QAT of CRPF and the Special operations group of Jammu Kashmir Police have been rushed to the spot, and searchlights were installed.

The official said that the Police had launched a search operation in the area to nab a suspect. During the search they came under heavy fire, causing injuries to four force personnel.

During the exchange of the gunfire, three militanst were killed, who are yet to be identified, he said.

Pertinently, the encounter in Srinagar is the third in the last two days. Earlier six militants including two top commanders were killed in the encounters in the Anantnag and Kulgam districts of South Kashmir.

During the encounter in Srinagar, four police personnel have been injured.
