On Sunday, a distressed family from Anantnag district’s Subhanpora village, talking to The Kashmiriyat said that their 21-year-old son Owais Ahmad Dar has gone missing since Tuesday.

The missing person’s brother, Aijaz Ahmad Dar, while talking to The Kashmiriyat said that his younger brother Owais Dar, who was also known by the name of Owais Baba, was a second-year college student. Owais worked as a salesperson at a cosmetic shop at Bijbehara, Aijaz said.

“It has been six days now that he has not returned. We tried reaching him via his phone, but his cell phone is switched off,” Aijaz told The Kashmiriyat.

Aijaz said that the family waited for a few days for Owais to return, but as days passed and there was no clue of him, they filed a missing report at the Wanpoh, Kulgam police station.

“The police assured us that they will help us find him,” Aijaz told The Kashmiriyat.

Aijaz also said that till date, no FIR or complaint had ever been registered against Owais.

“We are a poor family. Owais and I were the only ones left to look after our mother and sister. One of our brothers had passed away due to prolonged illness and soon after, our father passed away, too,” Aijaz told The Kashmiriyat.

“We are utterly anxious. We appeal him to return,” Aijaz said, adding, “And if someone has held him, we appeal that they send him back home.”
