The locals of nearby areas had to be evacuated after a massive fire broke out in the Lawaypora forest area in Bandipora district of north Kashmir.
Officials told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday evening, massive flames erupted from compartment number 22 in the Khuihama Forest range in Lawaypora belt, prompting the authorities to rush fire services vehicles and their employees to douse of the flames.
Range officer Mushtaq Ahmed said that people living in two nearby villages in Dobhan and Dardgund have been evacuated to nearby safer locations to prevent them from any untoward incident, as the areas were located in the close vicinity of the forest.
He said that panic has gripped in the entire area, but “there was no need to worry, the fire will soon be brought under control.”
