Encounter breaks out in Kulgam area

An encounter has broken out between militants and government forces in Khurbatpora area of DH Pora belt in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday afternoon 09 RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a joint launched cordon and search operation in the Khurbatpora area of Kulgam’s DH pora.

During the cordon, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, he said

Two militants including a top commander are believed to be trapped in the area.

As per the latest report, an intermittent exchange of gunfire is going on.
