On Thursday morning, shepherds held a protest at Palhallan Pattan in Baramulla district after four sheep and a dog died due to electric shock.
The protesters alleged that an electric wire fell down during the early morning hours but due to the negligence of PDD department it wasn’t restored on time.
“Even the nearby restaurant owner had called PDD and had already informed them,” one of the protester alleged, adding, “the department did not take it seriously.”
Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the shepherds have blocked the Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway due to which traffic movement got affected for approximately half an hour. It was restored later, however.
“We were coming from Saderbal Palhallan with our sheeps. An electric wire was lying down and the sheep somehow touched it,” one of the shepherds told The Kashmiriyat.
He also said that, “Out of twenty sheep, four died on spot.”
