Hundreds of locals including women on Friday afternoon hit the streets of Redwani locality in Quimoh belt of South Kashmir’s Kulgam amid pro Independence slogans demanding the removal of Army camp recently established in the locality.
Locals told The Kashmiriyat that scores of men and women on Friday afternoon came out on the streets shouting pro independence and Anti India slogans to demand the removal of an Army camp of 1RR of Indian Army recently set up in Redwani Bala.
However the Police soon reached the spot and fired tear smoke shells on the protesting civilians, which resulted in intense clashes as youth gathered in large numbers and threw stones on the troopers deployed in the area.

“In the last four days, the Army has entered the area thrice and vandalized households, thrashed many civilians during the night,” a local told The Kashmiriyat.
He demanded that the Army camp should be removed as it has intimidated the entire population of the area.
The Army on Sunday night set up another camp in the volatile Quimoh locality of South Kashmir’s Kulgam District, Locals informed The Kashmiriyat.
They said that 1 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army has set up a new camp besides the Martyrs graveyard in the Redwani Bala locality of Quimoh in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District. Redwani Bala pertinently is a densely populated area of the Kulgam District.
