Seven people were arrested for dumping “objectionable items” outside four mosques and a Khanqah in UP’s Ayodhya in an attempt to stir riots in the district.
The Police in a statement said, On the intervening night of April 27 and 28, the accused dumped holy books, meat, inflammatory posters among other items outside mosques in several localities of Ayodhya including Kashmiri Mohalla, Ghosiyana Ram Nagar, Tatshah, Eidgah Civil Lines and Gulab Shah Dargah allegedly “to take revenge” for the violence in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on Hanuman Jayanti, Ayodhya senior superintendent of police (SSP) Shailesh Pandey said, reported Muslim Mirror.
The police team arrested the culprits with the help of CCTV footage that showed eight people on four motorcycles dumping some things at the Muslim religious sites.
He said the mastermind of the incident Mahesh Kumar Mishra, was nabbed. The six others arrested were identified as Pratyush Srivastava, Nitin Kumar, Deepak Kumar Goud alias Gunjan, Brijesh Pandey, Shatrughan Prajapati and Vimal Pandey while efforts were on for the arrest of four others.
