‘Mentally unstable’ man arrested for allegedly burning Indian National flag in Rajouri

The Jammu Kashmir Police have arrested a man Nowshera area of Rajouri for allegedly burning the Indian flag, however, the man is said to be mentally unstable.

Amit Verma, Additional SP Nowshera said that a man was arrested on the basis of a video accessed by the police where he can be seen burning the flag. He also claimed that the arrested man was “mentally unsound”.

The Jammu Kashmir Police is looking for the man who shot the video and made no attempts to stop the accused from carrying out the act

The incident took place in Jammu Kashmir’s Rajouri district on 27 April around 8 PM, where a “mentally unstable” man took down the Indian flag hoisted on the building of the sub-district hospital and burned it, SP Nowshera informed the press.

The Police after receiving the information of a half-burnt Indian flag lying on the rooftop of the SDH Nowshera building immediately arrested the accused.

An FIR 68/22 U/S 2 has also been registered in this matter and further investigation is underway.
