Will provide additional 20 minutes per hour to special abled students appearing in board Exams: JKBOSE

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has said that it will provide additional 20 minutes per hour to the special abled students appearing in board exams.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), JKBOSE official has said, “An additional 20 minutes per hour of examination for each of the subject shall be provided to the Children With Special Needs (CWSN) to compensate for additional time required for reading by the amanuensis, understanding the question, fatigue while dictating to the Amanuensis, sitting continuously, etcetera.”

The board official also said that if the condition indicated in the medical certificate specified requires a short break, a break of not more than ten minutes per hour will be permitted in addition to the existing 20 minutes.

The notification in this regard issued by the JKBOSE reads, “Provision of the reader to read the question paper will be allowed in case the examinee does not want a scribe. The role of the reader will be limited to reading the question paper.”

It also states that the answer books of CWSN shall be sent separately by the Centre Superintendents to the concerned offices of JKBOSE.

“Use of simple calculators shall be permitted for CWSN in any of the examinations conducted by the Board,” reads the notification.

JKBOSE further said, “Orientation or instructions if and as and when required for the Superintendents, invigilators, evaluators and paper setters will be conducted by JKBOSE in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha, JKSCERT and Child Guidance and WellBeing Centre, (CGWC) IMHANS and Composite Regional Centre (CRC) etcetera.”

It also said that the facility of scribe in case of Hand dysfunction in Disabilities as defined in RPWD Act, 2016.

The CWSN shall have the discretion of opting for their own scribe, reader or request to the examination centre, Samara Shiksha, Head of their Educational Institution for the same.

The qualification of the scribe will be one class lower than the CWS examinee.

Candidates will be allowed to change the scribe or reader in case of emergency—(KNO)
