Opposition parties United Morcha comprising of Congress, National Conference, CPIM CPI besides several social organizations have rejected the delimitation report, terming it highly objectionable, biased and politically motivated, at the behest of ruling BJP.
Leaders of different political parties including Congress, National Conference, CPM, CPI, IDP, and others in a joint reaction have strongly criticised the final report which is a replica of highly controversial and objectionable draft report.
The senior leaders of main opposition parties have jointly rejected the final report, which is highly partisan, motivated and against all basic norms of delimitation like contiguity, connectivity, population, physical features and public convenience etc. The commission has totally ignored the ground realities and neglected the convenience and aspirations of the people of different areas.
The exercise of the commission was an eye wash aș the draft report was prepared at behest of riling party which was opposed widely by the people from different areas, regions, districts and assembly segments. A large no representations were submitted by the general public and opposition parties ,within a short period on one week only after the publication of draft report but hardly the genuine objections,/representations were considered. Only an eye wash of public hearing was conducted without considering the most genuine objections.
The commission has neglected the fundamental principles and norms, i and done great injustice to different areas, segments and communities.
The gap of population between different constituencies has widened than earlier, as few constituencies are less than 50,000 population while several others having more than, 1.90 lac populations, aș per census figures.
The commission done great injustice by clubbing the border areas of Rajouri Poonch and Anantnag- Kulgam lok sabha which is totally unjustified and nullified the genuine demand of additional lok sabha seat on Jammu region besides causing great injustice with people în view of the topography, terrain, lack of proper connectivity .
The Leaders have called an emergency meeting on Monday to discuss the situation emerging after the highly objectionable report and appealed all like minded parties and organisations to come together to raise voice against the report.
