The residents of Pathar Gulshan pora area in Tral hamlet of South Kashmir’s Pulwama and Chattisinghpora residents of Anantnag are up in arms against PHE department which according to locals have failed to provide drinking water facility to these areas.

The residents of Pathar told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that they don’t have any potable water facility in the area due to which they have been suffering since decades.

In absence of any drinking water facility, they are forced to drink contaminated water of the canal due to which water borne diseases can break out any time in the area, they said.

They added that their children and elderly people often fall sick and the reason behind it was the contaminated water what we are using.

The residents of Chattisinghpora also said that the area is without drinking water since decades and even last year, pipeline was laid in the area, however, they are yet to be connected with any scheme.

“We have moved to pillar to post to get potable water in the area, however, without assurances we haven’t got anything as of now,” they said.

They said that several times, they visited offices of concerned executive engineer and other officials who assured them that they will get water supply soon but on ground nothing is being done.

Locals from both Pathar Tral and Chattisinghpora claimed that they have visited offices of concerned executive engineers and other officials who assure that that area will get water supply soon but on ground nothing is being done, they added.

They requested higher ups to look into the matter and take immediate steps so that area will get potable water at the earliest—(KNO)
