Protest in several UP districts over insulting remarks to Prophet, Several detained

Massive protest demonstrations were held by Indian Muslims in Uttar Pradesh and several other states after Friday prayers.

Demanding action against the BJP member, Nupur Sharma, who insulted the Prophet Muhammad, the protesters hit the streets in several districts of Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, protests were staged in the Lucknow, Prayagraj, Saharanpur and Deoband districts in UP.

Demonstrations were also held after Friday prayers in Delhi, Kolkata where police was deployed in large numbers to prevent any “untoward” incident.

Earlier on Thursday, the workers of Owaisi’s party had protested in front of the Parliament police station.

In Delhi, the Police personnel was deployed in large numbers outside Delhi’s Jama Masjid, where a massive protest was held demanding action against the BJPs former spokesperson.

Reports suggest that Police have detained protesters in Deoband.

News Channels also reported a stone throwing incident from Sangamnagari too, stone pelting has started after the ruckus after Friday prayers.
