Two more militants were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Lolab area of Kupwara district taking the toll of slain militants in the encounter to four, police said monday.
A senior police officer told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that two more militants were killed in the operation while incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered.
He said the encounter started after the forces launched an operation in Lolab area of the north Kashmir on the instance of an arrested militant.
“During the search of the hideouts, the hiding terrorists fired upon the force personnel who retaliated, in which two militants were killed,” he said.
The official said the group affiliation of the slain militants is likely Lashkar-e-tobia while their identity is being ascertained. The searches are in progress and further details are awaited, the officer added.
Meanwhile, A militant was killed in an overnight gunfight that broke out between militants and government forces Chatpora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said on Monday.
