South Kashmir Shuts for Fifth Consecutive Day, At least 10 Arrested in Nocturnal Raids

A complete shutdown in being observed across South Kashmir for the fifth consecutive day on Thursday against the ongoing killing spree in the Kashmir Valley.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Pulwama, Islamabad (Anantnag), Kulgam and Shopian have shut for the fifth consecutive day to mourn the killings of civilians and Militants.

Seven Civilians and three Militants were killed on Sunday in the laroo area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam District after which a spontaneous shutdown was observed in the area.

On Wednesday two more Militants including Sabzar Ahmed Sofi, popular Hizb Militant was killed in a gunfight in Srinagar.

Meanwhile at least nine youth were arrested by the government forces in a nocturnal raid in the Darshaloo area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

The villagers were ordered to come out of their houses and then forces identified eight youth from a list and detained them, they said.
