Despite four years having passed, the authorities concerned have failed to complete an under-construction bridge in Tailwani area of Achabal in the Anantnag district, thus leaving the commuters to lurch at large.

Pertinently, the construction of the bridge over the Nallah began in the year 2018.

The local residents speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that the bridge is still under construction even after elapsing years.

Inhabitants of Tailwani Achabal said that they approached the concerned authorities several times in the past for the completion of the work on the bridge, however, the work is completely suspended at the moment.

The locals said that the construction work was going on at a snail’s pace, following which the construction came to a grinding halt for unknown reasons. They said the funds for the construction of the bridge were released, but the work remained incomplete for the last four years.

In absence of the proper bridge, the residents here have constructed temporary wooden bridges several times on their own, which get washed away frequently.

“As soon as the water level increases, the risk to cross the bridge increases proportionally. In the rainy season, it becomes slippery creating hardships for students, businessmen and others to cross it, thus leaving the whole populace to suffer,” the locals said.

Meanwhile, the locals appealed to concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest.
