Residential house receives damage during CASO in Shopian; ‘Militants escaped’, says Police

A residential house was partially damaged during an anti-militancy operation in the Kutpora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

The Jammu Kashmir Police said that the Government forces launched a Cordon and Search operation in Shopian’s Kutpora. During the search, militants lobbed grenades at the search party. The search party also retaliated, Police said.

“However, militants escaped due to darkness. Police and SFs busted a hideout inside a house & recovered Arms/Ammunition,” Police said.

The operation was jointly launched by Police and Army’s 34 RR during which they busted the hideout and also claimed to have recovered a huge amount of arms and ammunition were recovered from the hideout, the officer said.

The residential house where the anti-militancy operation was launched received partial damage, Locals told The Kashmiriyat.

Pertinently the house belongs to the father of one Adil Wani, an active militant from the Shopian’s Kutpora area who is associated with the militant outfit Al Badr.

Meanwhile Police officials said that the Jammu Kashmir Police has initiated the process of attaching the property of Adil Wani, who was involved in the killing of a Kashmiri Hindu in Shopian on Tuesday. They added that his kin had also been arrested, for reasons that were not made clear.
