Two BJP leaders allegedly con own party worker in Ganderbal, defraud him of 9 Lakh rupees

The Jammu Kashmir Police arrested two leaders of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) in the Ganderbal district for cheating their own party workers in the central Kashmir district.

Bashir Ahmed Bhat, a worker of BJP from Chandana’s Ganderbal accused the duo of theft and looting 9 Lakh rupees from him during their joint stay in a Ganderbal hotel.

He said that the administration had secured” several BJP leaders including the three of them in hotel Namrooz in the Ganderbal district for security purposes. During the time of their stay, Bashir lost a leaf from his chequebook. Initially, I did not notice that a leaf had been missing from the cheque book, he told the media.

“I had won an amount of 1 Crore in Dream 11 betting game. The money was in my bank account. I had spent very less amount of money. It was only on 15 July that I came to know through an SMS from the bank that an amount of 9,05,000 had been debited from my bank account,” he said.

Bashir lodged a complaint in the Police station Shadipora in Ganderbal under FIR number 199/2022 and started an investigation.

During the course of the investigation, the Police found that Tariq Ahmed Zargar and  Zahoor Ahmed Ganie, both BJP leaders who had been kept in the hotel by the admin with him had stolen his cheque and purchased gold worth 9 Lakhs.

The goldsmith had cashed the cheque in his local branch in  Jammu.

As the name of the duo came to the fore, the duo was detained and the gold worth nine lakhs was also recovered by the Police while further investigation is underway. while more arrests are expected in the case.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the BJP district president, Ghulam Hassan Rather said that the party has launched an insidious investigation and nobody found involved in any crime will be spared.

“The party has a clean character and nobody can raise a finger upon us. We are working on removing corruption from the entire country. We will not spare anyone if they are found guilty in the crime they are accused of,” Rather said.
