In absence of electric poles, Ganderbal residents worried about loosely hanging HT lines

Residents of Herpora Fraw area of Gund in Ganderbal decry absence of electric iron poles in the area saying hanging HT lines pose threat to residents.

A local Mehraj Ahmad told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that for the past one year they have been requesting authorities to provide electric poles but all the promises done so far have proved a hoax on the ground.

He said they have approached PDD officials several times to install the poles in the area to no avail.

“The threat increases whenever it rains as branches fall on electric wires.

This gives rise to a dangerous situation and we are more worried about our children who are not aware of the need for precautions near electricity wires,” they said.

A local sarpanch said that they have already informed PDD department that there is a need for iron poles in their town for which the electricity department has already paid Rs 11 lakh but are yet to erect them—(KNO)
