Preparation made, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to deliver Friday sermon in Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid tomorrow: Hurriyat

Amid the raging controversy over Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s detention, Mirwaiz has said that he will offer Friday prayers in Jamia Masjid Srinagar after three years.

“Preparations have been made for @MirwaizKashmir to deliver his first Friday sermon in over 3 years – tomorrow. A week ago, Lt. guv Manoj Sinha claimed that he was free to move and had no restrictions. We are looking forward to praying with the Mirwaiz at the Jamia Masjid,” Hurriyat Conference announced through a tweet.

Pertinently the debate raged after LG Manoj Sinha in an interview to BBC said that Mirwaiz was not under house detention.

A day later, several journalists who reached Mirwaiz’s residence to find the truth about the claim were disallowed to enter  Mirwaiz.’s house.

Several Police personnel outside the gate of his house disallowed journalists to meet the Chairman of Hurriyat Conference.
