
The Kargil Police seized a truck loaded with an illegal consignment of Cement belonging to Border Roads Organization (BRO) from Kargil town on late Sunday night.
Sources said that a truck (JK05C-9398) was intercepted by Kargil Police after receiving information that over 200 bags of cement were loaded illegally in it for sale in the black market.
The cement bags with ‘not for sale’ tag belonging to BRO were loaded in the truck from BRO GREF Camp at Khurbo Drass.
Station House Officer (SHO) Kargil Police Station Manzoor Hussain Mir confirmed to news agency Kashmir News Trust that a truck with an illegal consignment of cement has been seized and two persons including the driver and the conductor have been arrested.
“We had prior information about the BRO cement bags being illegally loaded in the truck. We seized the truck that reached to Kargil from Drass and arrested the duo in this regard,” the SHO said adding that an FIR vide number 88/2022 under section 409, 411 has been registered.
The police officer added that an investigation is underway and more arrests are expected. (KNT)
