Kashmiri female professor rewarded with ‘Outstanding Researchers Award-2022’ at AMU

A Kashmiri female professor working at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will receive the award for her outstanding contribution to chemistry during the annual Sir Syed Day Commemorative meeting today.

A press release issued by the University said that Professor Farukh Arjumand will share the award with Dr. Hifzur Rahman Siddique of the Department of Zoology who was also nominated for ‘Outstanding Researchers Award-2022’. The duo will receive a cash prize of Rs 50, 000 each.

Prof Arjmand has been contributing to the field of Chemistry for the last three decades.

She has contributed in the research of medicinal inorganic chemistry for the last thirty years during which she has visited many countries, including USA, China and Thailand for her research pursuits.

Prof Arjmand’s work in the fields of bioinorganic chemistry, medicinal inorganic chemistry, synthesis and characterization of antitumor metallodrugs opens up a range of possibilities from drug development to materials to diagnostics—and her impeccability as a scientist, deserving to stand out from the crowd is reflected in over 160 publications, pertinent to her specialization in peer-reviewed journals, as per the press release.
