Awami Action Committee pays rich tribute to Moulana Abbas Ansari, organises condolence meet

Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of a well-known religious scholar and founder of the Ittehadul Muslimeen Moulana Muhammad Abbas Ansari who passed away yesterday.

According to a statement, the AAC today organised a condolence meeting . The meeting on behalf of on behalf of the party , especially its incarcerated Chairman Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq who continues to be under house arrest for the last more than three years, paid glowing tribute to the senior religious and political leader Moulana Abbas Ansari for his invaluable religious, social and political services.

In the meeting, Moulana Abbas Ansari’s sincere sacrifices towards the Kashmiri people were described as unforgettable and his demise was termed as a great loss for the nation of Kashmir.

The Awami Action Committee described Moulana Abbas Ansari as a far-sighted, intelligent and moderate leader and said that the renowned Ansari family has had very close religious, social and political relationship with the Mirwaiz Family since day one, as a result of which the late Ansari Sahib completed his education in Islamia Oriental College under Nusrat-ul-Islam, the premier educational institution of Kashmir.

After that, as a result of closeness with the founder chairman of the AAC – Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq, Moulana Abbas Ansari worked side by side with the martyred leader in 1963 in the ‘Mo’ie Muqaddas Tehreek’ – the movement to recover the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

And when Shaheed-e-Millat laid the foundation of Awami Action Committee to fight for the rights of the Kashmiri people, Moulana Abbas Ansari was entrusted with a responsible position of the organisation, due to which Moulana Ansari along with Mirwaiz Moulana Farooq and other personalities also had to bear the hardships of imprisonment in 1964.

The AAC said that after the martyrdom of Shaheed-e-Millat, Moulana Abbas Ansari not only nurtured his long-standing relationship with the current head of the organisation and Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, but also established the Hurriyat Conference in addition to strengthening the platform. He played a positive role as a mentor to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq with his abundant cooperation and support.

The participants in the meeting expressed sympathy and solidarity with Moulana Abbas Ansari’s bereaved family members, especially his sons Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari and Nasir Abbas Ansari; and prayed for Jannat-ul-Firdous to the departed soul. The organisation assured the bereaved family that the entire leadership is with them in these hours of grief.

Meanwhile, the AAC expressed strong resentment over the fact that its head Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq was not allowed to participate in the funeral prayers of Moulana Abbas Ansari, nor was given an opportunity to directly condole and sympathise with the bereaved family, which is extremely sad and condemnable.
