Handwara’s village reels under darkness as PDD fails to repair damaged transformer

The Power Development Department (PDD) has miserably failed to repair the damaged transformer of Darbal village in Langate area of north Kashmir’s Handwara tehsil from past Two weeks, forcing the villagers to reel under darkness.

They said that the transformer in their area developed technical snag almost two weeks before, but the authorities have failed to repair it since then, causing hardships to the people.

They said that the due to many number of households depend on 100 KV transformer, thus exceeding the load and it’s gets damaged repeatedly.

“However two more transformers have been promised through different schemes one has been tendered recently but the work is yet to get start, over the installation of transforemer” they added.

The residents also said that the absence of electricity in winter season has left them to lurch at large. They appealed the district administration as well as the officials in PDD department to look into the matter at an earliest.

“We are reeling under darkness that too in harsh winter, causing huge trouble for the local community, students badly suffers. Even we need to travel to nearby Villegas to charge our mobile phone’s,” said of the local.(KNS)
