NC condemns ‘draconian’ order calling for removal of ‘encroachments’ on state land

Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) while strongly condemning the J-K administration for issuing an order directing 100 per cent removal of encroachments from State land including Roshni and Kahcharai by 31st January has termed it as a ‘Draconian Order’ aimed at harassing the common people of this Union Territory.

He appealed the Administration to immediately rollback the said order at the earliest in the larger interest of the people.

In a statement issued to media here today, the senior National Conference leader accused the Govt of pursuing anti-people policies and arbitrarily issuing orders one after the other to further its anti people agenda especially in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said it is really atrocious initiative on part of the Govt to dislodge those people living on the said land for the last so many years.”

Now the Govt suddenly wakes up and brings a law to get the aforesaid land vacated least bothering on the common and indigent people who will get deprived of shelter in the ongoing harsh winter conditions, which is really ironic as well as the folly of the BJP’s proxy rule in this already traumatized region, he lamented.

He said that the implementation of this order will only lead to creating an atmosphere of chaos and confusion across Jammu Kashmir.

Rattan Lal Gupta questioned the Govt for ordering removal of so called encroachments from land allotted under Roshni Act.

He asserted that the people in possession of the said land did not occupy it forcibly but the same stands duly allotted to them under the law namely Roshni Act duly passed by the legislature of Jammu and Kashmir.

Moreover, these people got the rights of land under the Roshni Act by paying their lifelong earning for getting the land registered in their name followed by further spending on construction of dwellings to live in.

Moreover the govt of Jammu and Kashmir had already filed review petition before the Honble Supreme Court of India which is still pending in the apex court and how the administration is issuing such anti people orders and not waiting for the decision of the apex court.

While asserting that this controversial order issued by the Govt is against the Rules of Natural Justice which is the sin qua non of every law Rattan Lal Gupta said that National Conference will not tolerate such arbitrary and anti-people laws or orders at any cost.

He appealed to the Administration to rollback the said controversial order at the earliest.
