‘People of Jammu Kashmir first beneficiaries of its resources’: Former Legislator over eviction order

A former Legislator from Jammu Kashmir on Sunday condemned the eviction drives initiated by Jammu Kashmir and said “retrieving” land from poor and landless was unfortunate.

In a press statement issued to The Kashmiriyat, Mohammed Amin Bhat, former MLA Devsar assembly constituency, has taken serious note of the government order regarding vacating of the state land allotted under the Roshni act and Kahcharai land by the end of the current month.

He said Ghulam Nabi Azad during his government had provided the land under Roshni Scheme as Chief Minister to the poor, needy, and landless for building houses and cultivation but now the prevailing regime is snatching it back that too in harsh weather conditions.

“The Land was provided to the poor and landless to build houses or cultivate to sustain their livelihood. However, now they have been rendered houseless or landless by the present dispensation. This practice should end and admin should be more humane in dealing with such issues,” he said.

Bhat said that the people of Jammu Kashmir are the first beneficiaries of its resources. He said our party will continue to fight against all anti-people decisions. “Be it jobs or lands, the people of Jammu Kashmir have first rights over it. The government must understand it and spare the poor and landless people,” he said.

Bhat also said, that his party’s agenda is to secure the lands and jobs for local people in Jammu Kashmir.
