After Mushtaq Zargar, another militant commander’s property attached in Sopore

A day after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) attached militant commander Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar’s property in Srinagar, the agency on Friday morning attached the property of one more militant commander in the Sopore area of north Kashmir.

On Friday morning, the NIA officials accompanied by Police, CRPF reached Sopore’s Dangerpora area and attached the house of Basit Ahmed Reshi, who as per the agency, is currently based in Pakistan.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had declared Basit Reshi, “presently in Pakistan”, as a designated “Terrorist” under the UAPA, a stringent act legislated to control militant activities.

Born on 4 March 1996, Reshi is resident of Yemberzalwari Shiva Dangerpora Sopore area of Baramulla district and as per NIA he is presently in Pakistan,

As per the MHA, Basit Ahmad Reshi, presently based in Pakistan, is another member of Hizbul Mujahideen and is known to be involved in subversive activities and coordinating target killings in Jammu Kashmir.

Reshi also planned and executed an attack on the police guard post at the shrine of Baba Ali Raina at Tajjaur Sharief Peth Astan in Sopore on the August 18, 2015, in which one police personnel and a civilian were killed.

“Owing to his good network of associates in his native area, he coordinates recruitment and execution of militant attacks. He has been alleged to be involved in managing arms and ammunition and financing from across the border and motivating youths to join militant ranks,” the MHA said.
