Three Muslim fruit vendors were severely assaulted by a right wing hindu group wounding one of them, in the Sangareddy area of Telengana.
As per a report by Muslim Mirror, during the assault, the gang allegedly made the Patancheru traders consume alcohol.
A case has been registered after a complaint from the fruit vendors.
“The event was not motivated by hatred, but rather by a disagreement over fruit costs. According to him, the dispute resulted in a few individuals attacking the fruit sellers,” Patancheru DSP Bheem Reddy was quoted by India Today.
The suspects have been booked under sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 341 (wrongful restraint), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Asaduddin Owaisi, the head of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, has spoken to the DSP and pressed for the addition of Section 307 (attempt to murder) to the charges, citing the fact that one victim had a fractured hand and another lost teeth as a result of the assault.
