Shabir Shah’s daughter, Sehar had written to the Director General of Prisons in an e-mail to convey her worries for her father’s safety in Tihar jail.
The alleged high-risk ward where the murder took place, which was captured on camera and shown on news networks, is where Shabir Shah is being held, according to her. Sehar claimed that Shah witnessed the murder from his cell, which startled him because he had never witnessed anything like it before. Shabir Shah, according to her, is gravely troubled as a result of the murder. She has written to the DG asking to see the video because the cops did nothing except watch and make no move to get involved. A video was attached to e mail by Sehar.
“The Government of India claimed that Tihar’s Jails 8 and 9 are the most secure. The same jail where the murder occurred is jail number 8, and my father has been detained there only,” she said. Sehar stated that she finds the video to be really unsettling and wonders what assurance there is that her father will be safe. Sehar stated in a series of tweets.
The world conscience and institutions are urged to recognise this right away and speak out against the abhorrent conditions Shabir Shah and all the Kashmiris detained in Tihar Jail are experiencing, she said. Meanwhile, she has urged the Central government to send his father to a jail in his native Kashmir or treat him as a political prisoner. No charges against her father have yet been proven, according to Sehar.
Shah is one of the Kashmiri separatist leaders detained in 2017 on suspicion of financing terrorist organisations and assisting militants. He is the leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party based in Srinagar.
