As the national debate has heated up yet again over Yasin Malik after NIA plea seeking punishment to the Kashmiri separatist leader, Bhartiya Janta Party has blamed the Indian National Congress for saving the Yasin Malik for “39 years.”
Tarun Chugh, senior leader of the party accusing Yasin Malik of “mass exodus” of Kashmiri Pandits said that the Congress Government made a hero out of Malik. “The conspirator of Kashmiri Pandit exodus and the abductor of Mufti Mohammed Sayed’s daughter shall be given the strict punishment,” the BJP leader said.
On Monday, the court responding to the NIA’s plea seeking death penalty for Yasin Malik issued a notice to the separatist leader currently serving life imprisonment in Tihar jail of New Delhi.
As the plea was admitted, a massive debate reemerged on social media. While Kashmiri politicians and locals called it a politically backed move, social media users in Kashmir praising the BJP accused Kashmiri politicians of being anti-nationals.
Several Kashmiri users also expressed apprehensions that Malik was being made a scapegoat by BJP to win the 2024 parliament elections.
