Eknath Shinde seeks land for ‘Maharashtra Bhavan’ in Kashmir

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, has reached out Raj Bhawan in Srinagar proposing the construction of a Maharashtra Bhavan in Kashmir. Shinde met Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha in Srinagar.

Eknath Shinde met JK LG Manoj Sinha and sought a piece of land for a Bhavan in Kashmir. They met in Srinagar on June 11, 2023.

In a letter, he personally handed over to Sinha, acknowledging the region’s “transformation,” Shinde believes this evolution presents an ideal opportunity for greater integration between Maharashtra and Kashmir.

MP Dr Shrikant Shinde was present on this occasion when Maharashtra Chief Minister met Sinha at Srinagar Raj Bhawan.

Shinde requested the allocation of a land plot in Kashmir to build a Maharashtra Bhavan. This establishment, situated in Srinagar, would serve as a vibrant showcase of Maharashtrian art, culture, and cuisine, providing accommodation and support to Maharashtrians visiting Kashmir.

Moreover, the letter said the Bhavan would function as a venue for cultural events and conversations, fostering a rich exchange of ideas. Shinde envisioned it as a hub for students, entrepreneurs, and officials from both states to “engage, cultivate connections, and collaborate on shared interests.”

He assured Sinha that the development of the Maharashtra Bhavan would strictly adhere to eco-friendly guidelines and procedures, respecting the cultural and natural legacy of Kashmir.
