A local militant has been killed in the encounter that raged in the Hawooora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday night.
An official confirmed that a local militant was killed and arms have been recovered from his possession.
Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Adil Majeed Lone son of Abdul Majeed Lone, a resident of Hawoora in Kulgam was killed during the encounter.
They said that Adil was a part of the Al Badr militant outfit.
A police tweet confirmed the killing of one local militant during the encounter.
“01 local militant neutralised. Identification & affliation being ascertained. Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow,” Jammu Kashmir Police said.
Earlier on Monday evening, the Government forces including Army’s RR and CRPF and JKP launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
During the cordon, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter.
One Policeman was injured during the encounter, who was shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment.
