CJI targeted with fake news, SC takes notice

Fake news has been circulating widely on social media which falsely attributes a quote to Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud that has been flagged by the PRO of the Supreme Court today.

The post in question says that the post-CJI has appealed to the public to unite and come out on the streets to fight for their rights against a ‘dictatorial government’.

In the press note, the PRO clarified that the social media post is ill-intended and with a malafide intention of defaming the CJI as it was not issued by the CJI or anyone authorized by him.

The PRO clearly said that no such post has been issued by the Chief Justice of India nor has he authorised any such post. Appropriate action is being taken in this regard with the law enforcement authorities.
