‘No need to travel outside’, Kashmir gets its first centre for TOEFL and GRE exams

The Educational Testing Service (ETS), based in the US, has opened its first testing centre in Kashmir.

ETS is the world’s largest non-profit educational assessment, research, and measurement organisation, and the owner of assessments such as TOEFL and GRE (Graduate Abroad Examination)

GRE is a standardised test required for postgraduate admission in English speaking countries like the USA, Canada, Switzerland, Ireland, Australia, and others while TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is an English Language Test for students who want to student in Europe, U.S and several other foreign nations.

The Centre has been built with an aim to help Kashmiri students write TOEFL and GRE exams without having to travel outside Kashmir. The test centre will come up at Hashtag Educational Services at Regal Chowk in Srinagar.

”This historic development promises to be a game-changer for study abroad aspirants in the region,” the firm said.

The establishment of a dedicated testing facility by a global assessment organisation fills an essential need for regional students who want to pursue higher education abroad, according to ETS.

To take the TOEFL and GRE exams in the past, students from the valley had to travel to the neighbouring state of Punjab. According to the company, the new testing centre not only reduces travel time but also demonstrates ETS’s dedication to supporting Kashmir’s local study-abroad community and students.
