Mehbooba Mufti raises concerns over Toll tax in Jammu

Jammu Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti, has voiced her concerns regarding the toll taxes levied at Sarore in Jammu.

In a tweet, Ms. Mufti criticized the Government of India (GOI) for what she describes as excessive toll charges, which she believes are burdening the people of Jammu.

The tweet, highlighted the plight of the residents of Jammu who are being subjected to what Ms. Mufti refers to as “anti-people action” in the form of exorbitant toll taxes. Despite ongoing protests against these toll charges, there has been no apparent response or resolution to address the issue.

Ms. Mufti’s tweet shed light on the perceived impunity with which the toll tax collection is taking place, suggesting that the toll tax system is thriving due to an alleged unspoken approval from higher authorities. The JKPDP President called upon Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, via the tweet, urging him to intervene and investigate the situation.

“GOI is fleecing people of Jammu by extorting exorbitant sums of money in the guise of toll taxes at Sarore. Protests are being carried out against this anti-people action yet there is no response or redressal in sight. The toll tax mafia is getting away with it because it seems to have the tacit approval of the powers that be. Request @nitin_gadkariji to look into this.,” she tweeted.(KNS).
