Supreme Court of India to hear arguments today on behalf of 11 convicts granted remission by Gujarat govt last year, Live Law reported.
They were convicted of 14 murders & 3 gang rapes during 2002 Gujarat riots. Their premature release has been challenged by Bilkis Bano and others.
Bench of Justices BV Nagarathna & Ujjal Bhuyan has been hearing the pleas. Counsel for Bilkis Bano & PIL petitioners have concluded their arguments.
On last occasion, ASG SV Raju argued for Gujarat govt.
Apart from the convicts’ arguments, Supreme Court today will also hear submissions on behalf of Union of India.
