Eight fishermen killed by Saudi led coalition in Yemen

The Ministry of Fisheries in the caretaker government in Sanaa strongly condemned, the reprehensible act of killing of eight fishermen committed by international forces in the Red Sea against Yemeni fishermen.

Local media reported that the incident follows a distressing pattern of aggression against the Yemeni people, with the latest being the deliberate gunfire resulting in the tragic death of eight fishermen from Al-Khawkha district in Hodeida province while they were engaged in their legitimate fishing activities in territorial waters.

Expressing profound concern, the ministry explicitly pointed out the continued hostile practices by factions loyal to the UAE and Saudi Arabia, in addition to the involvement of the US-led coalition in safeguarding Israeli ships.

The use of force and threats against fishermen by these entities has been a recurring issue, further exacerbating the challenges faced by Yemeni coastal communities.

It is crucial to contextualize this incident within the broader backdrop of Saudi-led attacks on Yemen, emphasizing the relentless aggression faced by the Yemeni people from multiple fronts.

The statement issued by the ministry strongly underscored the heinous nature of the crime, branding it a blatant and serious violation of international humanitarian law and human rights.
