Two fatal road accidents claim 11 lives in Jammu Kashmir

Jammu Kashmir witnessed a tragic day as two separate road accidents resulted in the loss of eleven human lives.

The first incident in North Kashmir’s Boniyar area, where a sumo vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge, claims the lives of nine individuals.

Additionally, six people sustained injuries in this unfortunate accident.

In a parallel event in Kishtwar’s Warwan area, a snow cutter machine accident led to the death of two persons, with two others suffering injuries.

Eight among nine people died in Boniyar road accident were identified as Tahira W/O Reyaz Ahmad; Amina D/O Abdul Gani; Mohd Maqbool Sheikh S/O Ahmad Sheikh; Abdul Rehman S/O Fateh; Maqsood Ahmad S/O Gh.Rasool; Sarwa W/O Gh. Mohd Bakshi; Sameena W/O Ab.Hamid Sheikh and Ab Razak S/O Ab Rehman.

In Kishtwar road accident the two dead persons were identified as Gh Mohi ud din Chopan S/O Mohd Shaban Chopan (60) and Ab Gani koka S/O Mohd Suban Koka (48).

Block Medical Officer Dachan told The Kashmiriyat that the two injured persons were be air lifted to Kishtwar Hospital tomorrow.

The incidents sent shockwaves through the region, prompting swift action from the authorities.

Taking to Twitter, the LG of Jammu and Kashmir expressed deep sorrow, stating, “Deeply saddened by the tragic accidents in Baramulla & Kishtwar. My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.”

To alleviate the suffering, the LG announced immediate relief measures. “An ex-gratia compensation of Rs. 5 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of the deceased, and Rs. 1 lakh will be extended to the injured.”

The LG directed district administrations to ensure prompt assistance to the affected families.
