The residents of Agroo Zahipora, Kulgam, gathered peacefully for a protest against the frequent unscheduled power cuts.

Despite diligently paying their monthly electrical bills, they said that they have been receiving a mere few minutes of electricity each day.

The residents emphasized that they consistently receive bills totaling Rs. 1050 while enduring prolonged power cuts.

“We understand the pattern of timely power cuts, but we don’t receive even two hours of consistent electricity supply”, a protesting resident told The Kashmiriyat.

The dire consequences of the electricity shortage extend beyond mere inconvenience. “With exams looming overhead, students face immense challenges in their studies due to the unreliable power supply,” a local resident said.

“Our children have been studying under candle light”, expressed one resident.

This outcry resonates far beyond the confines of a single town.
