A 29-year-old youth from Anantnag district of south Kashmir passed away on Tuesday morning.
Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Waseem Raza Attari who had been battling a serious Illness for several months in Srinagar hospital breathed his last on Tuesday.
Posts dedicated to him, seeking prayers for him had taken social media by a storm, as thousands reposted and shared the images widely on social media platforms including WhatsApp and Facebook.
The 29-year-old was devotees to the serving Islam and is known to be one of the most fierce campaigners who spread awareness about Islam and Prophet in the south Kashmir district since am early age.
“Waseem was one of a kind. He wanted the truthful message of Prophet Muhammad to reach every household. The waywardness of the Kashmiri society caused him anxiety and it seemed the last year incidents including that of rape, killings and heightened drug abuse frustrated him,” Iqbal, one of his close friend said.
“We tried to motivate him a lot, but whenever he called us, he cried on the phone over the reports of crimes in Kashmir valley which are very frequent now. It was during this time that I received a call that Waseem had taken ill and he was admitted to the hospital. It was at the hospital that was detected with serious Illness,” he told The Kashmiriyat.
Waseem, a resident of Laram Ganjipora devoted himself to Dawat e Islami, an Islamic outfit spreading religious awareness among Muslims globally.
