Baramulla breaks records: Nearly 60 per cent voters cast their votes

Voters in great numbers turned to polling stations in the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat on Monday morning to decide the fate of 22 candidates including the National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah.

Nearly 17.5 Lakh voters will exercise their franchise in Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara districts and parts of Budgam.

Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 2,103 polling stations have been installed throughout the Lok Sabha seat which is expected to witness a nail-biting contest.

The poling began at 7 A.M. in the polling stations, eight polling will be managed by women, and 18 by youth. 21 polling stations have been declared as green polling stations.

“26 Polling Stations have been installed outside Jammu Kashmir,  21 in Jammu, 4 in Delhi, and 1 in Udhampur district,” said officials.

At 11 A.M, the polling percentage crossed 21 in the Lok Sabha seat of Baramulla.

Bandipora – 23.18 %, Baramulla – 18.86 %, Beerwah – 23.00 %, Budgam – 21.69 %, Gulmarg – 20.04 %, Gurez (st) – 19.63 %, Handwara – 23.42 %, Karnah – 23.20 %, Kupwara – 20.40 %, Langate – 24.21 %, Lolab – 22.93 %, Pattan – 20.20 %, Rafiabad – 23.88 %, Sonawari – 21.29 %, Sopore – 11.75 %, Trehgam – 22.85 %, Uri – 22.89 %, Wagoora and Kreeri – 21.51.

In Ladakh, the polling percentage stands at 27.87  per cent at 11 A.M.

1:10 P.M.: At Sonawari 14, the total polling percentage stands at 36.26 per cent, At Bandipora 15, 35.77 voters have cast their votes, In 16-Gurez, the polling percentage stand at 30.36 and the total polling percentage in Bandipora district at 1.P.M stands at 35.54 per cent.

1:30 P.M: The overall voting percentage for Baramulla stand at 34.79  per cent, while in Ladakh, 52.02 per cent have cast their votes. Following is the list of segment wise percentage of the Lok Sabha seat:

Bandipora – 35.77 %, Baramulla – 31.68 %, Beerwah – 38.00 %, Budgam – 33.72 %, Gulmarg – 34.37 %, Gurez (st) – 30.36 %, Handwara – 38.76 %, Karnah – 37.61 %, Kupwara – 33.53 %, Langate – 40.53 %, Lolab – 37.08 %, Pattan – 32.82 %, Rafiabad – 37.58 %, Sonawari – 36.26 %, Sopore – 19.44 %, Trehgam – 35.78 %, Uri – 38.47 %, Wagoora – Kreeri – 32.94 %.

4:00 P.M: 44.9 per cent polling has been reported till 3.P.M in Baramulla Lok Sabha seat. Bandipora  has reported 46.86 per cent, Baramulla district- 39.44 %, Beerwah – 46.00 %, Budgam – 40.71 %, Gulmarg – 44.99 %, Gurez (st) – 35.02 %, Handwara – 53.06 %, Karnah – 48.17 %, Kupwara – 45.17 %, Langate – 50.97 %, Lolab – 46.97 %, Pattan – 43.02 %, Rafiabad – 47.48 %, Sonawari – 46.55 %, Sopore – 31.11 %, Trehgam – 47.17 %, Uri – 50.20 % and Kreeri Wagoora has recorded 40.45 per cent.

Lok Sabha seat Ladakh till 3 pm has crossed the polling percentage of 61.26 per cent with Kargil recording 66.05 per cent polling and in Leh, 56.10 voters cast their ballots.

5:10 PM: Approximately 54.21 per cent people have cast their votes in Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency by 5 P.M. The constituency percentage stands as following: Bandipora 56.13%, Baramulla 48.20%, Beerwah 55.62%, Budgam 48.12%, Gulmarg 54.45%, Gurez-ST 39.77%, Handwara 66.76%, Karnah 56.65%, Kupwara 55.68%, Langate 60.08%, Lolab 55.72%, Pattan 52.90%, Rafiabad 54.69%, Sonawari 58.64%, Sopore 40.10%, Trehgam 57.31%, Uri 59.07% and Wagoora-Kreeri 47.10%.

6:30 P.M  Chief Electoral Officer Pandurang Kondbarao Pole Thursday said that the Baramulla Parliamentary constituency recorded approximately 59 percent voter turnout, marking the highest polling percentage in the democratic history of the constituency.

Officials provided a historical comparison of polling percentages for the Baramulla Parliamentary constituency: 2019: 34.57% 2014: 39.13% 2009: 41.84% 2004: 35.65% 1999: 27.79% 1998: 41.94% 1996: 46.65%.
