Indian YouTuber’s Quran desecration video stirs up online firestorm

Social media erupted in outrage following an incident where a self-proclaimed atheist named Sameer desecrated the holy Quran, the central religious text of Islam revered by Muslims as a revelation from God.

In a provocative video uploaded to YouTube, the individual, who identifies as an ‘ex-Muslim’, is purportedly depicted disrespecting the holy book by placing his feet upon it, tearing its pages, and setting it on fire.

The dissemination of the video on social media swiftly triggered widespread condemnation and indignation, with many demanding repercussions against Sameer. The episode has ignited a contentious discourse regarding freedom of expression, religious sensitivity, and the boundaries of respectful dialogue on online platforms.

The Indian YouTuber known as ‘ex-Muslim Sameer’ has garnered attention for his Islamophobic and anti-Muslim rhetoric. He has frequently engaged in contentious ‘debates’ with Muslim leaders on conservative news channels, often making disparaging remarks about Islam and Muslims, particularly those residing in India.

Social media users have been seeking action, mostly on twitter, against the Indian Youtuber.

A social media handle, @MuslimYouthSquad tweeted, “We are launching a campaign to file an FIR against “Ex Muslim Sameer” for desecrating the #Quran in a live YouTube video.”
