On the eve of Doctors’ Day, Dr. Mir Shahnawaz, a prominent dermatologist and the founder of DERMIS-Skin and Hair Clinic in Srinagar, was honored with the “Economic Times Most Inspiring Cosmetologist of the Year Award” in New Delhi. This recognition was part of the 7th Edition of The Times Now Doctor’s Day Conclave 2024, an event celebrating the contributions of medical professionals across the nation.

Dr. Shahnawaz’s dedication to dermatology and aesthetics earned him this prestigious award. Discussing the significance of cosmetology today, Dr. Shahnawaz remarked, “Cosmetology is an ever-evolving field dedicated to enhancing beauty and restoring youthful appearances through various procedures. In today’s fast-paced world, everyone desires flawless skin, free from imperfections. Cosmetological procedures can make you look younger, eliminate sun spots, and impart a radiant glow.”
He noted the increasing demand for aesthetic procedures in the Kashmir Valley, such as threads, fillers, Botox, and non-surgical rhinoplasty. However, he cautioned the public to ensure these procedures are performed by certified doctors with an MBBS and a mandatory MD in dermatology or by plastic surgeons.
Dr. Shahnawaz also expressed concern about the rise of unqualified practitioners in Kashmir, warning against quacks who lure people with enticing social media posts. “Your face deserves the best care, and that comes from the hands of qualified professionals,” he advised.
