No extension in summer vacation, SED confirms

The School Education Department (SED) announced on Tuesday that there will be no extension of the summer vacation, and students are expected to return to classes on July 18.

The SED confirmed this decision on the microblogging site X, stating, “All Schools (Govt. & Private recognized) shall re-open on 18.7.2024, after summer vacations across the UT.”

The department has also directed Chief Education Officers, Zonal Education Officers, and Heads of Institutions to ensure adherence to cleanliness guidelines.

They have emphasized the importance of thoroughly cleaning all premises, including classrooms, corridors, and common areas. Special attention must be given to maintaining hygienic and well-kept toilets, and water tanks should be cleaned and disinfected to provide safe drinking water. Additionally, rooftops must be cleared of any debris and dirt.

Further instructions include the trimming and maintenance of lawns and grounds to ensure a neat and safe environment for students. Schools are also required to remove any junk, waste, or debris from their premises to maintain a clean and clutter-free environment.

It is crucial to identify and remove any stagnant water to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes and other pests. Inspecting the premises for water leakages and promptly repairing them is essential to avoid water wastage and potential damage to the infrastructure.

The SED emphasized that these measures are critical for providing a safe, clean, and conducive environment for students returning to school. Earlier, on June 30, the SED had announced a summer break for all schools in winter zones from July 8 to July 17.
