Engineer Rashid led Awami Itihad Party (AIP) has announced its candidates for nine seats in South Kashmir for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.
In a press conference held today, AIP Chief Spokesperson Imam Un Nabi revealed that the candidates were selected after extensive consultations with local communities and civil society.
The AIP has decided to contest the elections independently, with no plans to form alliances with other political parties in the region.
The party is also preparing to release its manifesto in the coming days, following further internal discussions.
The list of candidates announced includes Abdula Qayoom Mir for Pampore, Dr. Harbaksh Singh for Tral, Sofi Iqbal for Pulwama, and Molvi Fayaz Wagay for Zainapora, Shopian.
Other candidates include Mohammad Arif Dar for DH Pora, Kulgam, Dr. Suhail Bhat for Devsar, Kulgam, Hilal Ahmad Malik for Dooru, Anantnag, Aqib Mushtaq for Anantnag West, and Tawseef Nisar for Anantnag 144.
Regarding the ongoing detention of party chief Engineer Rashid, the spokesperson mentioned that his bail hearing is scheduled for August 28, expressing hope for his release soon.
