PDD Continues Cutting Power Supplies to Poor- Wealthy Enjoy Despite Huge Defaults

The Power Development Department of Jammu Kashmir has linemen and inspectors visiting almost every locality in Kashmir valley especially during winters to check the defaulters and recover money from them.

In case, the defaulter, fails to do so, the department cuts power supply to the households.

 

However the department has released a notice stating that politicians, big businesses and richest people are the biggest defaulters of the Power Development department of Jammu Kashmir.

Former minister and PDP MLA Hazratbal Asiea Naqash owes Rs 13 lakh 66 thousand 999 rupees to the PDD while her security owes Rs 29 lakh 80 thousand 24 rupees to the power department.

Trumboo Joinery owes more than two crore , Rs 23367475 to the power department.

State Tuberculosis division owes Rs 1440821

The PDD defaulters include Airtel, BSNL, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Reliance Communications, with outstanding power dues running in lakhs of rupees, discloses the public notice published in leading dailies on Monday.

Deputy GM JKPCC owes Rs 16432350, Golf course Pahalgam owes Rs 22001620, SP Kulgam for police post Behibagh owes Rs 2299310.

The department has asked the defaulting consumers to liquidate the electricity charges within 15 days or else their connections shall be disconnected.

The PDD issued a long list of defaulters which was circulated among local dailies of the state.

The list also includes several businessmen running manufacturing units in different industrial estates of the valley.

Former minister, political leaders, government forces and top businessmen of the valley are among the defaulters of PDD on payment of electricity bills.

According to the list issued by the PDD of the defaulters on payment of electricity bills include  top business houses, government  forces  installations, politicians and government departments.

People’s conference leader who is set to fight Lok Sabha elections for the Srinagar constituency Irfan Raza Ansari owes Rs 5200019 to the department.

 

Irfan is the brother of former PDP MLA and minister Imran Reza Ansari.

Irfan’s company access is said to owe more than INR 50 Lakh to the power department. (The Kashmir Walla)
