Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has issued a stern warning to political leaders and parties attempting to reinterpret the resolution passed by the Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly during its first session.
Ruhullah stated that neither the Congress nor the Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) leadership, nor anyone from his own party, the National Conference (NC), has the right to distort the resolution’s intent.
The resolution, he emphasized, was a direct expression of the people’s disapproval of amendments and the “unconstitutional abrogation” of Jammu Kashmir’s special status between 1953 and 2019.
It demands the reinstatement of all guarantees, including Article 370 and 35A, to their pre-1953 form.
Ruhullah cautioned that any attempt to dilute or misinterpret the resolution would lead to political isolation, comparing such actors to the BJP’s former allies who faced public rejection in the recent elections.
His statement underscores the deep-rooted sentiments around Jammu Kashmir’s autonomous state and the political stakes tied to its restoration.
