The Shopian administration on Thursday issued an order aimed at curbing accidents involving minors.
In an order, accessed by The Kashmiriyat, the Shopian admin has stated, “The sale of petrol and diesel is hereby prohibited to all individuals who are minors, i.e., under the age of 18 years.”
Additionally, it mandated, “The sale of petrol and diesel shall only be permitted to individuals who present a valid driving license as proof.” Non-compliance will lead to penalties, including suspension of fuel station licenses and legal action.
Similar measures were recently implemented in Jammu, where petrol pumps displayed posters reading, “No fuel for vehicles driven by minors.”
This comes in the wake of a tragic accident in Srinagar on November 14, where two young boys lost their lives, and another was critically injured in a collision near Tengpora, sparking concerns about road safety and underage driving.
