The Southern Kashmir District of Kulgam has poured onto the streets and the fields to bury their seven among the eight dead who were killed during a gunfight that erupted in Laroo area of Southern Kashmir’s Kulgam District early morning on Sunday.
Thousands attended the funeral prayers of nine people, who were killed in Laroo area of Kulgam during the gunfight and in clashes which erupted near encounter site at in the area on Sunday.
A large number of people turned up at Shurath village in to participate in the funeral prayers of Irshad Ahmed of Shurat Kulgam.
Local residents informed that two rounds of funerals were offered for the young men amidst pro-freedom and anti Indian Slogans.
Irshad Ahmed got killed when the Government Forces left the encounter site unsantitized after killing three Local militants in there. Irshad was one among the seven civilians killed there. They were identified as Talib Maqbool, a resident of Laroo, Tajamul Ahmad of Danew Bohgund village, Irshad Ahmad, a resident if Shurat village, Uzair Ahmad Dar, a resident of Rishipora, Mansoor Ahmad, a resident of Bohgund, and Aaqib Sheikh of Makanpora. There is one more person declared dead whose identity is not known to anybody, so far. One of the slain civilians is a minor and has five sisters.
Grief and mourning gripped the entire area while most of the people attended their injured in the hospitals in Srinagar, Kulgam and Islamabad (Anantnag).
In the neigbouring village, Laroo where the gunfight was held, thousands of people swelled from adjacent villages to take part in the funeral prayers of Talib Maqbool son of Maqbool Ahmed Sheikh. Back to back five turns of funeral prayers were held for slain Talib at laroo amidst pro-independence and anti-Indian slogans.
Eyewitnesses informed that Zubair had splinters of the explosives. “He was dead on arrival,” a health official said.
In another Kulgam village of Hawoora, thousands of people had assembled at the locality of Quimoh soon after news about death of Javaid Ahmed lone, spread in the area.
Villagers from adjoining areas of Redwani, Mishpora, Khudwani, Quimoh, Frisal, Yaripora, Rampora, Wanpora, Ghat were seen marching in droves to Hawoora to have last glimpse of slain civilian and participate in his funeral.

Three rounds of funeral prayers were held for the slain Javaid amidst Pro-Independence and anti-Indian slogans.
Javaid was a driver by profession.
More than 35 civilians were injured grievously in forces action on protesters near encounter site at Laroo, Kulgam and some around 60 minorly. Health authorities informed that they received 12 youth with bullet and 13 with pellet injuries and many of them were referred to Srinagar.
Doctors at District Hospital of nearby District Islamabad (Anantnag) told The Kashmiriyat that they received 3 bullet and 8 pellet injuries and 6 were referred to Srinagar for further treatment.
Three Jaish e Muhammad militants who had joined militant ranks this year were killed in the gunfight.
