ACB Conducts Joint Surprise Checks at RTO offices and Driving Test Locations

Pursuant to reliable information received that there is wide spread corruption in the Regional Transport Offices located at Jammu, Samba and Kathua, while processing Learner’s Licences, Driving Licences, RC’s and also for clearing candidates in the driving tests, a Joint Surprise Check (JSC) was conducted by the Anti Corruption Bureau in the RTO Offices located in these areas today i.e 26.12.2020.

In a press release issued to The Kashmiriyat, the regional Transport office in Jammu The teams which conducted the JSCs checked all the vital points in the RTO Offices in Jammu, Samba and Kathua which were prone to corruption. The teams also scrutinized the records, interacted with public who were appearing for tests, learning tests etc to see if any middlemen/ touts are involved in the process of clearing the tests and also in getting the Learner’s Licence/ Driving Licence etc in an easy manner.

Pending files in the Regional Transport Offices located in these offices for issue of Driving Licences, Registration Certificates etc were scrutinized to ascertain the reason of pendency and their copies collected for further study.

The mobiles/ desks of the RTO officials were checked for any onward messages seeking favors including the amount of cash lying with them.

The Joint Surprise Checks lasted throughout the day and was conducted in after taking the concerned Regional Transport Officer in confidence.

The collected records and the observations made are being scrutinized for further course of action including the statements of the public present in these offices.

If any malafide/ criminal negligence/ connivance is found on the part of the officials of the Regional Transport Office in these offices further legal action as envisaged under the law will be taken against the concerned officials.
