The Jammu Kashmir admin has sealed the residential quarters of two leaders at Anantnag’s Housing Colony Khanabal.
On Thursday, Estates department locked the quarter of Senior National Conference leader Peerzada Hamid and the Vice President MC Bijbehara Peerzada Musharaf at Anantnag’s Housing Colony.
Earlier several leaders of the JKPDP and JKNC were evicted from the residential colony while many others were served eviction notices.
JKPDP and JKNC leaders have accused the administration of selectively targeting them for their political affiliations. “There are several BJP leaders who are being alloted these quarters. Nobody even knows them, many have been living here for years,” a JKNC leader stated earlier while accusing the officials of bias, a claim that officials deny.
The claims that the illegal occupants were targeted is outlandish, illogical and bereft of any common sense, an official statement read..
The statement further added that one of the evicted quarters was allotted to one Mubeena Akhter, in the capacity of her being a government employee, but she has retired way back.
“The allottee has retired way back, this extinguishing all her rights over the said premises. It’s a blatant violation of the statute and public trust that the erstwhile allottee has sublet the public premises to the present occupants , who as such were occupying the premises in the most illegal manner and without any right, rhyme or reason,” the statement said.
